Every day, millions of people around the world gather with friends and family to eat, drink and be merry. For many, discovering and tasting new wines is a hobby—something to look forward to. Yet, when it comes to shopping for wine, it’s common to find the experience overwhelming. Jersey City-based wine empire CoolVines works to make shopping for wine enjoyable and low-stress for both experts and newbies on the scene.
CoolVines prides themselves on selecting and selling the best quality wines of each “breed” of libation. By taking the “diplomacy” away from wine shopping, the CoolVines staff makes it easy for customers to shop within their own palate and price range by communicating the bottle’s information in uncomplicated and digest-able terms. When visiting either the Grove Street or Powerhouse location, CoolVines’ accommodating staff is always willing to point their clients in the right direction and decide what is right for the occasion, setting, and food pairing they plan to indulge in.
On Saturday, August 10th, both Jersey City CoolVines locations will be teaming up to present the first-ever Powerhouse Arts + Wine Fest, a day that celebrates music, art, family, friends, and of course—shopping for wine. This day-long festival intends to celebrate the individual’s taste for wine rather than the opinions of “experts,” a fundamental concept at the heart of the CoolVines mission.
During the Powerhouse Arts + Wine Fest, visitors will be welcomed to sample and purchase new and exciting beverages, discover emerging local artists, and enjoy live music in the lively Powerhouse Arts District of Jersey City. In appreciation for the arts, 100 percent of the proceeds from the event will go towards helping the Nimbus Dance company complete the Nimbus Arts Center at the Lively. This project, once executed, will feature a 150-seat black box theater, several dance studios, and a series of gallery spaces.
Admission to the festival is free, but there is a suggested donation of $5. Pre-sale VIP passes are $39, which include 10 beer, wine and food tastings, VIP seating with a view of the main stage, private cooking and tasting demonstrations, chocolate tastings, the sip and spray live mural, and exclusive restrooms. All guests are sure to love the wide selection of food vendors, as well as a variety of fresh non-alcoholic beverages including iced tea, homemade lemonade, and cold-brew coffee.
By hosting this festival and being Jersey City’s hip craft beer, spirit, and wine purveyor, CoolVines brings attention to Jersey City’s rich arts, culture, and culinary communities. One of the most important aspects of the CoolVines mission is authenticity, which they embrace in every reach of their business. This is seen in the care they take to hand-select the products they sell, the friendly staff throughout their stores, and the way they celebrate their Jersey City roots. While they look to engage with their surroundings through The Powerhouse Arts + Wine Festival, join CoolVines and the Jersey City community to celebrate their home and the beauty that exists within it.
