Soul of Sake XI at Ani Ramen JC

Soul of Sake

If there’s one thing to take away from Ani Ramen House, (@aniramen on Instagram) it’s that they love ramen. In Asian cultures, food is a celebration of love and relationship, which is what separates Ani Ramen House from their competitors.

Every month, through their Soul of Sake event, the Ani Ramen House looks to honor the tradition that stands behind the art of sake, a Japanese rice wine. Join the Ani Ramen team from 7:30 -10:00 PM on July 30th, at their Jersey City location for their 11th celebration of the Soul of Sake event.

They have invited America’s first “Miss Sake USA”, Jessica Joly, to join them as they collaborate with Coco’s Spirits and Suntory Whisky to feature Amabuki Marigold Yamahai Sake—a rice wine with a rich, creamy, and bold taste, Suntory Toki Whisky—a delicate whisky with hints of granny smith apple, and honey, and Nanbu Bijin All Koji Sake—another rice wine with a light sweetness, notes of apricot, and a nice acidic balance. With these featured spirits guests can enjoy the ramen of their choice and Omakase appetizers—served family-style.

Having moved from Japan to America at a young age, Joly shares “As the first Miss Sake USA, I look forward to bridging the gap between Japan and America while simultaneously spreading my passion and love for sake to the world. I hope to successfully educate those outside of Japan on the true craftsmanship of sake and share the joy of discovering this world of deeper flavors.” Since moving to New York City from California, Jessica Joly has gained impressive experience from both traditional and contemporary establishments among the likes of Soba Totto, Bohemian, SakaMai, Ippudo, Patiserrie Tomoko and Tokyo Record Bar.

In her very own sake-night event at SakaMai, she features select Sakes paired with seasonal dishes and pairs the bottles with a corresponding soul music track to contribute to a thorough and inspiring experience. Jessica Joly is also an International Kikisake-Shi, or Sake Sommelier. She is passionate about her Japanese heritage and is working to educate those outside of Japan on the true craftsmanship of sake.
