A few years back, I ended up have my appendix removed. One emergency surgery and a 48-hour hospital stay later, I was back home on my couch. One rule of laparoscopic surgery recovery includes avoiding any kind of activity that involves abdominal movement—coughing, sneezing, etcAs an attempt to brighten my spirits, my boyfriend put on one of Brent Morin‘s Netflix stand up specials, which ended being the best (and worst) decision. You know, because it really, really hurt to laugh.

Long story short, I’ve always found stand up comedy to bring a bit of lightness to a less than ideal situation. Or if you’re happy and healthy, it’s an excuse to laugh a little harder. For your viewing pleasure this weekend, here are (in no particular) some of what I consider to be the best Netflix stand up specials. And yes, the one that made me almost rupture yet another organ is on the list.

Marc Maron: End Times Fun

Iliza Schlesigner: Elder Millennial

Sebastian Maniscalco: What’s Wrong with People

Pete Davison: Alive From New York

John Mulaney: The Comeback Kid

Chris D’Elia: No Pain

I’m Brent Morin

Tom Papa: You’re Doing Great

Comedians of the World (UK): Mae Martin

Tom Segura: Ball Hog

Bill Burr: I’m Sorry You Feel That Way

Daniel Sloss: Live Shows
