5 Cool Things to See In New Jersey

by Staff

New Jersey is a beautiful state with lots to offer. Whether you live there or are just visiting, these five cool attractions will surely be memorable.

Check Out the Chicken

Believe it or not, New Jersey is home to some of the largest chickens in the world! The Jersey Gaint chicken was born and bred in Burlington County in the late 1800s; nowadays, Jersey Giant roosters can be over two feet tall!

Checking out the chickens in the area can help you learn all sorts of new things about them. How do they interact with each other? Will chickens kill each other?

Burlington County has many farms and argo-tourism businesses where you can get up close and personal with these gentle giants.

But be warned, while this breed is typically docile, males have been known to get into fights.

Wander ‘Round the Grounds

Art lovers can’t miss the Grounds for Sculpture art museum. Located outside of Trenton, this art museum complex is massive, covering more than 40 acres! It includes both a museum and a surrounding sculpture garden that’s beautiful year-round.

Take a Hike

Many people don’t realize New Jersey is home to many beautiful national parks. One of the most popular parks is Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park.

Located in Passaic County, this park has something for everyone, including fishing, camping, guided tours, and many scenic walking and hiking trails. Its biggest feature is its massive waterfall, which stands over 70 feet tall!

Hit the Boardwalk

You can’t think of New Jersey without thinking about Atlantic City. Located along New Jersey’s beautiful Atlantic Coast, Atlantic City is home to many beaches, luxury hotels, casinos, and, of course, the historic Atlantic City Boardwalk.

Established in 1870, the Atlantic City Boardwalk has shops, restaurants, and attractions. It’s also a historic landmark! The Boardwalk is great for all ages, so stop by on your next visit!

Check Out The Aquarium

You can’t go wrong with a trip to the aquarium. The Adventure Aquarium in Camden, New Jersey, is fun for all ages. This massive aquarium can take up to three hours to make it through all the exhibits!

Some of the most popular attractions include the Shark Bridge, the Penguin Park, and the underwater walkways – you can get up-close views of some of your favorite fish. There are also several touch tanks for the kids; it’s a can’t-miss destination.

Pro tip: Make sure you buy your tickets in advance to skip the long lines and crowds.

Final Thoughts

Many people associate New Jersey with New York City, but the Garden State offers much more than a quick train ride. The agro-tourism industry in New Jersey is booming, offering an escape from city life for both residents and visitors alike.

Jersey also has many beautiful parks and natural features. There are many museums and sculpture gardens for art lovers, including the famous Grounds for Sculpture complex. And, of course, no trip would be complete without going to the historic Atlantic City Boardwalk!
