This season has delivered its fair share of unforgettable moments, with thrilling comebacks, nail-biting finishes, and standout performances from the league’s brightest stars.
With just a handful of games left to play, it’s the perfect time to reflect on some of the most exciting clashes we’ve witnessed so far. From last-second heroics to record-breaking plays, these games remind us why the NFL remains one of the greatest shows in sport.
Let’s take a look back at the matchups that have defined the season and set the tone for an electrifying road to the playoffs.
Atlanta Falcons 36-30 Tampa Bay Buccaneers
National Football Conference (NFC) South rivals Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced off twice over two thrilling encounters in October, but we’re going to focus on the first of those meetings at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Week 5.
The Buccaneers led the Falcons 24-17 after a high-scoring first half that saw five touchdowns, including two scores from Mike Evans, and the drama continued in the second half—capitulating with the Falcons scoring a field goal with no time left on the clock to force overtime.
The game was on a knife-edge in the American football betting going into overtime, but it was the hosts who came out on top with Kirk Cousins finding KhaDarel Hodge for a 45-yard game-winning touchdown.
Jacksonville Jaguars 27-30 Green Bay Packers
An interconference game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Green Bay Packers had fans on the edge of their seats on Week 8, with the hosts edging out the travelling Jacksonville at EverBank Stadium at the death.
With the matchup scoreless after the first quarter, life was injected before halftime. The Packers took a 10-0 lead through a Josh Jacobs touchdown and a field goal, but Trevor Lawrence clawed back a score before a field goal each made it 13-10 at the break.
The Jags and Packers cancelled each other out in the third quarter with a touchdown apiece, before the visitors restored their 10-point lead with a Tucker Kraft TD.
Jacksonville fired back to make it 27-27 with just over a minute left, but a Brandon McManus kick won the Packers the game in the last second.
Detroit Lions 42-48 Buffalo Bills
A game worthy of headlining Super LIX in February, the Buffalo Bills cemented their Vince Lombardi Trophy credentials with a victory over perhaps their chief rivals for the championship game with a 48-42 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 15.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen rushed to the house for two touchdowns for a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the second quarter was more open, with the Lions scoring either side of a third TD for the Bills to make it 21-14 at the break.
Buffalo opened up a gap in the third quarter as James Cook and Khalil Shakir made it a three-score game at 35-14, but Amon-Ra St. Brown grabbed one back for the hosts. There were four TDs in the final quarter, with the Lions scoring three times, but two successful field goals dampened any potential comeback.
