A selection of useful podcasts and YouTube channels for investors

Staff

Whether you’re keen to invest in cryptocurrency or to purchase stocks, it’s important to make informed decisions. Of course, you can jump straight in without conducting any research and without learning the ropes, but it probably isn’t recommended. In fact, it’s a sure-fire way to fail.

In order to improve your chances of making shrewd, profitable investments, it’s always worth soaking up as much information as you possibly can before embarking on your investing journey. For example, you might want to explore various investment strategies before deciding on one that can guide your investment decisions. In the same way that people plan their retirement strategies and gamers learn a basic blackjack strategy before tackling the classic casino banking game, investors everywhere are continually looking at ways to enhance their chances of success. Be it through a podcast or a respected investor on YouTube, there is plenty of material out there.

Of course, not everything you see online should necessarily be taken as gospel and conducting your own research is hugely important, but keeping tabs on the latest developments in the industry and listening to people who have been there and done it before is always worthwhile. So, with that in mind, below is a selection of useful podcasts and YouTube channels for investors to make the most of.

Podcasts are a preference for many investors

Whether you’re interested in Forex or Indices, a number of well-liked podcasts could certainly help you become more clued up on them. There are many sources of information investors can use to stay on top of their finances, but podcasts are a preference for many. Be it on their commute to work or while relaxing on the weekend, podcasts can be played in the background and offer an array of informative views and up-to-date news.

Unhedged is a podcast that offers that and more, with the Financial Times’ market experts sharing views and big news on the financial markets. The Rest is Money is another strong option, as both Robert Peston and Steph McGovern assess the various developments in the finance world, many of which are linked to politics. If you’re looking for insights into the stock market, then The Motley Fool Money is the one for you. From investing strategies to interviews with industry experts, it always serves up a fascinating listen. Animal Spirits Podcast is another top option, containing comical value and markets to create a truly listenable package. Invest Like the Best also deserves a mention, particularly if you’re keen to hear from top investors and entrepreneurs with inspirational stories to share.

Video content is almost everywhere these days, as people become accustomed to watching bite-sized chunks of material instead of reading pages of words. Although TikTok and Instagram also house some informative posts, it’s generally a mixed bag. The same applies to YouTube, although there are some respected voices on the platform that are churning out some intriguing uploads on a regular basis.
MyWallSt is one of them, a channel that aims to help people achieve financial freedom thanks to their helpful uploads around the stock market and the investing world in general. Sven Carlin is another respected figure on the platform, with this experienced investor sharing insights around stock analysis and more. Ben Felix also offers something similar, although he tends to take a deeper look by providing academically backed evidence on the world of finance. Felix clearly knows his stuff and offers something many other voices in this area simply don’t. Other top channels in this category include The Financial Diet and The Plain Bagel.
