The FDA has yet to grant kratom the license to promote itself as a product with potential health benefits. In some states, kratom is even classified as a schedule 1 drug.
The result of this equation is a bunch of people buying kratom with no real guidebook on how to take it or what it can do.
Kratom comes in the form of a powder. In a lot of cases, you can buy kratom that’s already encapsulated, or you can buy capsules to insert the kratom into after you buy it.
Having capsules doesn’t do much other than to help regulate the dosage without the use of a scale. It’s important to try smaller doses when you get started because you don’t know how the substance will affect you.
Kratom is typically used for pain relief and anti-anxiety treatments, but it can also produce psychoactive effects and alter your mood. For this reason, you should set a period of time aside for yourself to experience kratom the first time you take it.

Taking it without a schedule can lead you to depend on it whenever you think you need it. That’s not necessarily the best idea, seeing as it can be difficult to stop once you’ve reached that point.
That said, you can certainly use kratom as a way to treat pain or anxiety when it flares up at the moment. Different individuals have unique relationships to potentially addictive substances, and the way you handle your treatment is entirely up to you.
One way to improve the effects you get from kratom is to use something called a “potentiator.” Potentiators are simply substances that, when used along with another substance, bring out more effects than you would otherwise experience.
For example, mixing kratom with lemon or lime juice might activate certain alkaloids in kratom and produce stronger effects. The same goes for cayenne pepper, chamomile tea, coffee, turmeric, and magnesium.
