The New Jersey dining scene is about to reach new heights this spring thanks to James Beard-nominated Chef Robbie Felice’s latest endeavor: Bar Mutz, “a hip Italian Trattoria and Mozzarella bar,” that promises contemporary Italian dining with a trendy twist.

Nestled in the heart of Westwood, NJ—and next door to sister restaurant Osteria Crescendo—Bar Mutz is an inspired concept that takes the fresh, authentic flavors of Italy’s classic trattorias and kicks it up a notch. Think small, alluring plates of handmade cheeses, imported meats, caprese salads and crispy arancini, alongside a variety of funky cocktails that play off Italian spirits and flavors.

The focal point of Bar Mutz’s menu is sure to be a crowd pleaser, promising hand-stretched and perfectly chewy mozzarella (mutz), stracciatella, and burrata—made fresh daily right in front of guests. Plus, a variety of imported cheeses and salumi to snack on. *Cue involuntary mouth-watering*

Chef Robbie Felice has made a name for himself in the New Jersey culinary sphere with his three top-rated concepts: Viaggio, Osteria Crescendo and PastaRAMEN—all rated among the best restaurants in NJ. His newest venture with Bar Mutz brings a fresh and exciting take on casual and laid-back Italian dining, with his own signature, hip culinary spin.

“I’m as excited as I was when I opened PastaRAMEN,” Felice told me. “I mean, who in New Jersey doesn’t love fresh mozzarella? I’m excited to take something that people love and bring them an entirely new concept with it.”

Bar Mutz is expected to open March 2024.
