A New Jersey pizza spot was just recognized as one of the nine best new pizzerias in the entire country by Food & Wine.
The ranking covers an array of pizza styles and formats—hitting destinations across the country from Portland and Miami to New York City and New Haven. But it’s a Jersey City pizzeria that has our attention.
One World Pizza introduces diners to flavors from around the globe in the form of pizza. The unique format—14 internationally inspired pizzas, served in a 90-minute tasting menu—has earned the Jersey City restaurant a spot on Food & Wine’s national list.
The 12-inch pizzas take guests on a trip around the globe. Nothing is off the table. One World Pizza serves everything from Indian-inspired pies topped with creamy butter chicken to Caribbean-flavored options with Jamaican jerk brisket, sweet plantains, and pickled habanero.
Other popular pizza options include Korean bulgogi, Mexican elote, and North African lamb—which Food & Wine specifically highlighted for its ras el hanout-flavored lamb shank, medjool dates, sunflower seeds, spicy harissa, and Urfa pepper.
If a pizza tasting menu at the chef’s counter isn’t your style, One World Pizza also offers à la carte pies and salads. Takeout or dine-in.
Nearby, four other pizzerias made Food & Wine’s national ranking: Five Dreams Pizzeria y Antojitos, Frico on 2nd, and Pizza Studio Tamaki—all in New York City—and Da Legna at Nolo in New Haven.
That’s five total within the Tri-State Area recognized as some of the best new pizzerias in the nation. I’m not saying to hit them all in a day. But I’m not not saying to, either. Weekend road trip, anyone?
