How Sebastian Perez and his wife Rosangelly are building something lasting in Westwood—one loaf at a time.
There is a particular kind of restaurant that doesn’t announce itself too loudly. It simply opens its doors, does everything thoughtfully, and lets its regulars become its loudest advocates. Rosangelly’s Café in Westwood is exactly that kind of place—and in a remarkably short time, it has become one of Bergen County’s most talked-about dining destinations.
Rosangelly’s begins with a love story. Sebastian Perez, who hails from Colombia, met his wife Rosangelly Flores, from Puerto Rico—the café’s namesake—and discovered they shared more than a life together. They shared a vision.
Rosangelly, who works for L’Oréal and brings a sharp understanding of consumer behavior to everything she touches, identified a gap in the market that few restaurateurs have the courage to fill: a genuine third space designed with women in mind. A place to linger over brunch, connect with friends, open a laptop, or simply feel at home.
“We wanted to create a space that was happy, positive, and rooted in something real—not a trend, but a feeling,” Sebastian says.
The Menu

What began two years ago as a concept for a traditional coffee shop has evolved into something far more calculated. At the heart of Rosangelly’s is a micro-bakery producing breads baked in-house daily, alongside a coffee program built around beans they roast themselves. The signature tres leches French toast has quickly become a must-order, but the kitchen’s ambition doesn’t stop there. Five varieties of egg dishes and a health-conscious menu spanning breakfast, brunch, and lunch have attracted a clientele who appreciate that quality and flavor don’t have to be sacrificed for wellness—you can have both.
A chef trained at the Culinary Institute of America brings classical technique to a kitchen that wears its Latin roots proudly. The menu doesn’t sprawl—it’s curated to reflect quality over quantity.
And to add to the allure: dinner service is launching the first week of June, following overwhelming demand from a loyal customer base that simply can’t get enough of Rosangelly’s.

The Space
It’s not just the food, drink, or service that keeps regulars lining up—the setting is just as much a draw. Rosangelly’s lives inside a former bank building, an architectural landmark in downtown Westwood that gives the café a soul that’s nearly impossible to fake. Guests feel the history the moment they walk in. The team has been careful to honor it, layering in a warm, contemporary aesthetic without erasing what made the building special in the first place.
The Philosophy

Sebastian is refreshingly candid about what sets Rosangelly’s apart. Staff learn regulars’ first names. The coffee is roasted in-house. The focus on the customer experience borders on obsessive—and it shows.
“Classic service is not trendy,” he says. “But it’s built into our DNA. The most important thing is attention to detail, and learning people’s names. That’s where real hospitality begins.”
For a restaurant that spends relatively little on paid advertising, Rosangelly’s has an outsized presence. Their social media accounts have built genuine community through warmth and consistency rather than viral stunts. It’s the kind of audience that is earned through good food and even better spirit.
Takeout orders can be placed through the café’s website. But if you can, go in person. Sit at a table. Let them learn your name. Trust me.
