After it was announced last week that Netflix was making moves to purchase Warner Brothers for $82 billion, the streaming giant also quietly finalized plans for the much-anticipated NJ studio.

Netflix has completed its purchase of nearly 300 acres at the former Fort Monmouth site, spanning Oceanport and Eatontown, New Jersey. The $1 billion project will include 12 soundstages adding up to roughly 500,000 square feet, along with production offices, crew facilities, retail and additional community amenities.

Construction on the first phase began in May, with full completion of the Netflix NJ studio expected by 2028. The development is backed by up to $387 million in state tax credits and long-term PILOT agreements from local municipalities. Once completed, the project is expected to bring millions in revenue to Oceanport and Eatontown.

With New Jersey’s film and television industry constantly expanding, the Fort Monmouth studio is set to anchor Netflix’s East Coast productions. The NJ film and television industry spent a record $833 million in 2024. Fort Monmouth’s redevelopment promises to create hundreds of jobs, stimulate the local economy, support local business and transform the historic site into a major production and community hub.
