First Annual New York Denim Days Festival 2017
The first annual New York Denim Days Festival is happening this weekend, September 29th to October 1st, featuring an invite-only conference, two days of shopping, and a one-day street festival at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea. Denim Days will connect denim designers, insiders and brands with denim-loving consumers.
The event on September 29th is an invite-only conference at the Fashion Institute of Technology with Adriano Goldschmied, the godfather of denim; Stefano Rosso, CEO of Diesel USA; Scott Morrison CEO and founder of 3×1, Paper Denim Cloth and Earnest Sewn; Stefan Siegel of Not Just a Label; and Sanjeev Bahl, President of Saite. The discussion panel will discuss denim fashion, its icons and insider information.
The Denim Days Festival continues on Saturday and into Sunday with interactive displays, a vintage denim market, indigo dyeing, books, music, and more. Amy Leverton, author of “Denim Dudes,” will have a book signing at the event. There will also be a pop-up fashion show by The Fashion High School. The tickets for the festival are $10 online, $15 at the door, $5 for students (with I.D.), and children 12 and under require no ticket.
The Street Festival on Sunday takes places from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is free to the public to enjoy a day of shopping, food, live entertainment, games, face painting and more. Piero Turk, Italian denim designer and author of “Details: A Life With Denim” and “Number 2: A Life With Denim” will also have a book signing.
