New Jersey Drive-in Theaters to Visit This Summer

Grab some popcorn and hop in the car because drive-in movie theaters have returned to New Jersey! Ever since Governor Phil Murphy signed an executive order last month allowing for drive-in movie theaters (or drive-up events)—as long as individuals remain in the car and keep distance from other vehicles—people are taking this opportunity seriously to travel back in time.

If you’re looking to ditch your go-to streaming service and catch a flick that isn’t in your living room, or if you’re going down the shore for the weekend, here is a list of places all around New Jersey that are offering drive-in movie theater options right now.

Carpool Theater at Montclair State University
Little Falls, NJ

Montclair Film has partnered with Montclair State University to air movies including an all-time favorite, “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” between June 12-June 15 at the Montclair State University Lot 60 located at 35 Clove Road, Little Falls, NJ. Tickets are $25 per car and it’s recommended that individuals bring their own snacks and beverages since none will be available onsite. More information about dates and times can be found here. Stay tuned for more information about upcoming showings in the future.

Drum Point Sports Complex
Brick Township, NJ

Normally drive-in movie theaters open in August, but when it was announced that they could open now, Mayor John G. Ducey wanted to take advantage of the opportunity. Every Friday evening starting at 8:30 pm from June 12 – July 10, movies like, “Frozen II”, “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” and more will be shown at the Drum Point Sports Complex in Brick Township. Registration is required and is only open to the residents of Brick; more info can be found here

Rockleigh Country Club

Delsea Drive-In Movie Theater
Vineland, NJ

The OG drive-in movie theater is reopening for good again. Delsea Drive-In Movie theater, New Jersey’s only permanent theater, was built in 1949, closed in 1987 and reopened in 2004.
