So, we went county by county, looking for our favorite farmers markets. Feel free to skip to your neck of the woods, or try someplace new. Here are the best farmers markets in NJ.
Atlantic County
Ventor City Farmers’ Market
Corner of Atlantic and Newport | 6421 Atlantic Avenue Vendor City, NJ
Check out Ventor City Farmers’ Market every Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m until August 30. They have free face painting for the kids, a chiropractor providing adjustments on the spot, and chicken and waffles on a stick. What more could you ask for? Ramsey Farmers Market
Ramsey Main Street Train Station | Main Street & Erie Plaza, Ramsey, NJ
Featuring more than 70 vendors, the Ramsey Farmers Market is a treat for those close to the state border. Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce Farmers Market
Ridgewood Train Station West Side | 6 Garber Square, Ridgewood, NJ
This season, right next to Ridgewood’s quaint town center, you can support sustainably-sourced, organic produce and plants at the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce Farmers Market. Be sure to stop by before October 27—the market will be there every Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
River Vale Farmers Market
River Vale Town Hall | 406 Rivervale Road, River Vale, NJ

Columbus Farmers Market

This one’s a double whammy. At Columbus, there’s both a produce market and an Amish market. Produce Row is open Wednesday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., sourced by Columbus Produce and Cannuli’s Produce. Cannuli’s also serves Italian market goods. The Amish Market operates at varying hours from Thursday through Saturday, selling Amish farm-sourced goods hailing from Lancaster County, PA. Click here for the Amish Market’s hours and vendors.

Haddonfield Farmers Market

Located in the heart of Downtown Jersey City, the Historic Downtown Jersey City Farmers Market (phew, that’s a mouthful) has a small biweekly setup outside the Grove Street PATH Station every Monday and Thursday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. until December 19. This late market is perfect for those who want to do a little local shopping after work. Grab a killer sourdough bun from Hoboken Farms and tell me the 10-minute PATH ride from the city wasn’t worth it.
Farms in the Heights

Yet another Jersey City farmers market, Farms in the Heights is a Sunday market that runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This marks their 14th season serving the people of Jersey City. They offer a Free Arts & Crafts tent twice a month. Mark your calendars for August 4 for a Peach Pie Contest, September 15 for a Harvest Festival, and November 3 for the Day of the Dead celebration.
