Forbes’ latest list of the world’s wealthiest celebrities includes 18 celebrity billionaires from Steven Spielberg to Taylor Swift. In New Jersey, only one celebrity made the list.

Bruce Springsteen has been named the richest celebrity in New Jersey.

The singer and songwriter, known as “The Boss,” holds a reported net worth of $1.2 billion, ranking him 15th among global celebrity billionaires. He sits between NBA star LeBron James and television producer Dick Wolf on the list.

Springsteen’s fortune stems from decades of music sales, touring, and the sale of his music catalog.

He remains the only New Jersey celebrity to appear on the billionaire list. Fellow New Jersey native Jon Bon Jovi holds an estimated net worth of $410 million. Illusionist David Copperfield, who has ties to the state, is worth $875 million.

On Springsteen, Forbes wrote: “The ‘Born to Run’ singer’s biggest payday came in 2021, when he sold his music catalog to Sony for some $500 million. But Springsteen also had a lucrative run on Broadway with an eponymous show and has made hundreds of millions from touring and album sales. The Boss has declined to comment to Forbes about his wealth but claimed to The Telegraph last year that he’s not a billionaire because he ‘spent too much money on superfluous things.'”

The world’s richest celebrity, according to Forbes, is filmmaker Steven Spielberg at $5.3 billion, followed by George Lucas and Michael Jordan.
