Polar Bear Plunge Returns to Seaside Heights for 32nd Year

Staff

The 32nd annual Polar Bear Plunge at Seaside Heights will take place Saturday, Feb. 22, at 1 p.m. The event benefits Special Olympics New Jersey and is expected to be one of the largest in its history.

Check-in and on-site registration open at 9 a.m. at Blaine Avenue. Participants will head to the beach at 11:30 a.m. before making the plunge in front of Spicy Cantina. The event is organized by New Jersey Law Enforcement as part of its year-round fundraising efforts through the Law Enforcement Torch Run.

Plungers will enter the beach through designated access points and must present a wristband at security checkpoints. Spectators will not be permitted on the beach due to crowd management concerns. A livestream will be available for remote viewing.

Registration is open online, with tiered fundraising minimums based on sign-up dates. Participants who meet fundraising thresholds can earn event incentives.

The event draws thousands of participants each year, raising funds to support programming for Special Olympics New Jersey athletes.
