AriZona Iced Tea’s 99-Cent Price Tag at Risk as Aluminum Tariffs Rise

AriZona Iced Tea could be forced to raise the long-standing 99-cent price of its signature tall can due to new tariffs on aluminum that are set to take effect. This would be the brand’s first price increase for their iconic cans since 1997.

President Trump recently doubled tariffs on imported aluminum—raising the rate from 25 percent to 50 percent. Among the sectors bracing for higher expenses is the beverage industry, which relies heavily on aluminum for packaging.

For nearly three decades, AriZona has resisted price increases, maintaining the signature 99-cent price tag through inflation and shifting market conditions. The potential change highlights the strain tariffs place on companies that depend on imported metals. In the U.S., roughly half of the aluminum supply comes from abroad.

Industry leaders are warning that the tariff hike could be chaotic for food and beverage markets, creating challenges for manufacturers and driving up costs for consumers.

For AriZona, a price increase would mark the end of one of the most legendary bargains at your local deli or bagel shop.

For my entire life, AriZona has maintained the 99-cent price tag. Now, it’s in jeopardy.
