Atlantic Highlands Annual FilmOneFest Set for July 16

by Lauren Kim

FilmOneFest (FOF) is providing filmmakers with a platform to showcase any short film of their choice that is under two minutes in length. These creators will have the opportunity to make industry connections while enjoying an outdoor screening at the Atlantic Highlands Marina overlooking the Manhattan skyline as the backdrop. This thrilling showcase is taking place July 16, 2022 from 6-11 p.m. at the Atlantic Highlands Marina. The films will begin showing when the sun goes down.

Who Should Attend

Festival submissions are closed, but supporters of the arts are highly encouraged to attend. For those that decide to attend and watch the up-and-coming artists, there will be food trucks, artist vendors, a 50/50 raffle and live music making the trip worth your while. The music performance lineup for the evening is Catbite Philadelphia, The Sad Tomorrows and Lakehouse Music Academy.

The unique combination of film, art and music is what sets FOF apart from other film festivals. Some of the awards categories include Jury & Judge, Young Filmmaker Award and Audience Choice. This event was created with the sole purpose of encouraging, rewarding and supporting the art of short filmmaking.

What Kind of Films to Expect

Film categories include comedy, drama, sci-fi, horror, experimental, documentary and animation. They also have specialty niche categories like student, New Jersey, female filmmakers and urban. This makes it an inclusive and diverse showcase that provides credit and equal opportunity by spotlighting specific communities. Everyone will find a short film to suit their tastes from this broad selection of entries.

While this event is free, all attendees should bring fresh food items or non-perishables. The Atlantic Highlands Food Pantry receives these items as donations every year. They will have a booth set up by the Atlantic Highlands Arts tent by the stage.

Sony Pictures Classics is a large supporter of this event. Other valued and notable sponsors include funds from Monmouth Arts, the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners. As previously mentioned, the FilmOneFest and the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council proudly supports the Atlantic Highlands Food Pantry through food drives and donations.
