A mysterious case. A body found in the most unlikely place–a New Jersey golf course. A woman’s body was discovered Tuesday morning on the grounds of an exclusive Livingston golf course. Since then, local authorities have begun investigating.
According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, an employee at Cedar Hill Golf Course noticed a strong odor while working near Walnut Street. The worker happened upon what appeared to him to be human remains wrapped in some sort of blankets. What’s more chilling is that investigators believe it’s possible the corpse had been there for up to three days before the worker ultimately made the discovery.
Shock in the Neighborhood
Cedar Hill sits in one of Livingston’s most upscale communities, where manicured fairways border quiet residential streets. Neighbors told reporters the discovery was jarring in such a well-kept area.
Identity and Cause of Death Unknown
The woman has not yet been identified. Detectives are cross-referencing missing persons databases in an attempt to confirm who she is.
“The cause and manner of death are pending the results of an autopsy. The identity of the individual has not been confirmed,” a spokesperson for the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
Call for Information
So far, officials have not released details about how the woman may have died or how long she had been there.
