Chaos at Willowbrook Mall after a gunshot was reported inside of the mall food court on Tuesday. Police are investigating the incident and have detained multiple individuals. The scene caused panic among shoppers, a large police response, and a full evacuation of the mall.

Shots Fired Inside the Mall Food Court
Authorities and witnesses say at least one gunshot was fired inside the mall food court, located at the backside of the mall. Calls came in shortly after 7 p.m. reporting the gunshot.
Early reports indicate the shooting started as a physical altercation, but escalated. Investigators are still working to determine the breakdown of events: what led to the gunfire and who was responsible?
Police said on Tuesday that they did not come across any gunshot wounds at the scene. No injuries have been reported.
Three Taken Into Custody Following the Willowbrook Mall Shooting
Three individuals have been detained in connection with the incident. Among those taken into custody are two adults and one juvenile. It is not yet confirmed whether the person who fired the gun is among the three detained and no discharges have been announced thus far.
The report triggered a large police response as officers from Wayne and other surrounding agencies flooded the scene. The mall was evacuated in its entirety while police secured and searched the scene for any additional threats.
Willowbrook Mall Reopens, Investigation Continues
Police confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public at this time, however, they will continue to investigate the situation as they search for more answers. Willowbrook Mall reopened on Wednesday. Evidence and witness statements are still being reviewed.
A large police presence caused congestion around the mall and temporary NJ Transit bus delays at the Willowbrook Park and Ride.
