It’s December, folks— and that means it’s Christmas lights season. Numerous scenic homes are listed below for you to take your family or date on a holiday drive. There are picturesque light shows scattered across front yards, popular neighborhood homes with fantastical Christmas decoration traditions on the roof, and exciting newcomers with the right amount of eye-catching flair in their holiday lights. For one day only, Central Jersey exists.

The yard looks like a world of its own. If you go to Facebook, you’ll see the abundance of admiration this bright home garners for the festivities. The kids can send letters to the North Pole directly to Santa and enjoy the lively inflatables.

Looking for a subtle, tasteful light show? Find your way to the Cook’s in Jackson. Synchronized with music, the bright lights and humongous tree lights up the yard. Like other admirable light shows, they require a lift to put up the holiday lights on their home. One Facebook user said, “They put on such a great light show.” Donations are happily accepted to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society and candy canes are handed out to children.

The Gress House Holiday Light Spectacular – Union Beach

The spectacle of this home is worth taking a walk around the property to see. The house is so illuminated, one cannot even sight the roof. Illuminated blow mold characters swarm the front yard, inviting an interaction with the little ones. The Gress House Holiday Light Spectacular also raises money for the Children’s Miracle Network. Find this spectacular light show on social media!

One Facebook user wrote, “Their family looks forward to it every year.” The light show merits a visit from all locals and not-so-locals. Take one look at a picture of the light display and you’ll see the show for what it is- magical.

Ferone Family Christmas Light Show – Toms River

Extravagant lights at this family home require incredible craftsmanship. Last winter, they raised $7,500 for the most medically fragile patients in Long Term Care at Children’s Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, NJ. Happily accepting donations to the hospital, this light show experience brings the magic of Disney to their music every Tuesday.

Dyker Heights Christmas Lights – Brooklyn, NY

Known even to New Jerseyians, this popular New York Christmas light frenzy has swept through an entire neighborhood. The world of decorations is equally enjoyable taking in on foot or in the comfort of your vehicle. Traffic may be your least favorite part of living in New Jersey. However, this small city of lights makes you appreciate the slow drive. There is so much to see here! Variety characterizes this sect and lights reveal smiles on the faces of residents and touring viewers alike. Dyker Heights, Brooklyn, is 30 minutes from Elizabeth, 45 minutes from Newark, 1 hour from Freehold, 1.5 hours from Newton, 1.5 hours from Cherry Hill, and 2 hours from Atlantic City. Take a ride- it’s a worthy road trip!
