Forecasters are tracking a storm expected to move up the East Coast late this week, with Sunday, Feb. 1, emerging as the window to watch. Whether it turns into another round of widespread snow or slips past with limited impact remains unclear. What is clear is that the cold isn’t going anywhere.
Temperatures across New Jersey are expected to stay below freezing into next week. That matters, because it means there’s no margin for rain. Any precipitation that falls will arrive as snow, and any snow that falls is likely to stick.
The storm itself is still unsettled. Computer models continue to show a wide range of possible tracks, and small shifts could have outsized consequences. A path farther east could spare much of the state. A late move inland—something New Jersey has seen more than once this winter—could bring accumulating snow, especially in coastal and central areas.
