Each year, we dream of a white Christmas. Most years, we are disappointed when we don’t wake up to snowflakes falling from the sky. So, what about Christmas 2025? Will New Jersey see a white Christmas this year?

What Christmas Day Looks Like So Far

Forecasts for December 25 show a gray, damp and snow-free holiday—especially in North Jersey.

In Newark, early morning temperatures are expected to hover around 37 degrees. Wind will make it feel closer to 32. There is a 100% chance of rain for the morning, with patchy rain possible throughout the rest of the day.

By midday, skies remain overcast, temperatures rise slightly to 39 degrees and humidity sits high near 90%. Conditions should stay cloudy into the evening, with temperatures holding and wind dissipating.

It’s looking like Christmas in NJ will be cold, gloomy and wet… but not snowy.

Meteorologists: Pattern Doesn’t Favor Snow

According to NJ 101.5’s Chief Meteorologist Dan Zarrow, the atmosphere could stay “potentially active” heading into late December, with weak weather systems moving through the Northeast. Some of those could technically produce rain or snow depending on temperatures, but as of right now, nothing major is on the radar.

National Weather Service meteorologist Zach Cooper echoed that outlook, saying current guidance points to rain, not snow, and above-normal temperatures for Christmas.

AccuWeather also leans toward a snow-free holiday. Its early Christmas Day forecast calls for highs near 45 degrees, overnight lows around 26 and a mix of clouds and sun.

Could Things Still Change?

The weather forecast could change, but the window is closing.

Long-range forecasts become more reliable the closer Christmas gets, and meteorologists say colder air could still arrive later this month. For now, it looks like a cloudy, but mostly dry Christmas for New Jersey.
