Not everyone needs the ferocity of die-hard fans and heavy drinking to enjoy the Super Bowl. Here’s a list of 18 places where you can escape the rowdy crowds to enjoy the big game.
Jersey City
Raval Tapas Bar & Cocktail Lounge: Normal happy hour specials including half-off tapas, sangria, and mixed drinks.
Battello: Enjoy calamari, oysters, or lobster salad at the bar while watching the game, and choose from Battello’s eclectic beer selection which includes Chimay Red and Allagash White.
Grove Square: Grove Square is comprised of five rooms, including a Wine & Whiskey Bar, the Bistro, and the Third Base Sports Cafe. Tickets for their Super Bowl party are $30 and include an open bar and open buffet. All sections of Grove Square will be open, meaning you can hide out in the Wine & Whiskey Bar to watch the game on the big screen.
White Star Bar: Wing baskets, two TV’s at the bar, and a projector upstairs.
Hoboken
1-Republik: Over 40 flat screens and ten projectors, 1-Republik bills itself as a ‘premiere upscale sports bar’ and gastropub. The menu speaks for itself: steak sandwiches and lobster rolls, calamari and braised short-ribs.
Zack’s Oak Bar: 4 flat screens and $5 specials on drafts, well drinks, and wine. Plus crabcakes, chicken tempura, and bacon-roasted brussel sprouts.
Pilsener Haus: Bier and bratwurst, and four projection screens. Look for specials on their in-house pilsener.
The Living Room: Salumeria, cocktails, and TV’s at the bar.
Union City
Angelo’s Cafe Bar: 6 drafts for $20, mix and match! Ecuadorian cuisine, rib-eye steaks, and stuffed baked clams.
Hudson Blue Bar: Enjoy the game on TV’s at the bar, and turn around during commercial breaks to a view of the stunning Manhattan skyline across the Hudson.
North Bergen/West New York
Social 59: Drink specials TBA, plus flat-screens and projectors and empanadas with homemade mojo sauce.
Son Cubano: The best Cuban fare in Hudson County, overlooking the Manhattan skyline.
Waterside Restaurant: The Frutti Di Mare tower, up to three tiers… plus, try the long list of appetizers and salumi.
Cliffside Park
Mitchell’s Fish Market: Happy Hour specials include $5 liquors, drafts, and cocktails, plus salmon sliders, bacon-wrapped BBQ shrimp, and tuna poke. Plus, you can see Manhattan from the GWB right down to the Freedom Tower.
