A legendary New Jersey deli will expand to Bergen County with its newest location.
Millburn Deli—best known for towering Sloppy Joes stuffed with cold cuts, cole slaw, and cheese—will open a Westwood location after years of demand for a Bergen County presence, as first reported by Boozy Burbs.
Millburn Deli: A New Jersey Institution
Millburn Deli originally opened in Millburn, New Jersey in 1946. For most of its history, it remained a stand-alone store—and a destination deli for sandwich enthusiasts. That was until the 2020s, when the brand started to expand within the state. Suddenly, Montclair had a Millburn Deli; then Morristown; then Westfield; and finally Bridgewater. Now, Westwood joins the party.
The small chain specializes in New Jersey-style Sloppy Joes, but the menu goes way beyond the triple decker rye sandwiches, covering dozens of Jewish, Italian, and American staples on its expansive list.
Other favorites from the Millburn Deli offerings include the Godfadda (chicken cutlet, smoked bacon, sliced mozzarella, and house-made Russian dressing on a pressed roll), the Gossip Girl (grilled chicken breast, fresh mozzarella, roasted garlic tomato, lettuce, and balsamic vinaigrette on a 7-grain baguette), The Gobbler (roasted turkey breast, stuffing, cranberry sauce, lettuce, mayo, and black pepper on rye), and The Perfect Ten (rare roast beef, sharp provolone, tomato, arugula, and roasted garlic parmesan mayo on tomato focaccia).
Guests can also build their own sandwiches with a choice of bread, protein, toppings, and more. Millburn Deli notes on their website: “If we carry it, you can put it on a sandwich.”
Millburn Deli will open in Westwood, New Jersey at 301 Center Avenue. No opening date is set as of publishing.
