Local artists, Lucy Malolepszy and Ricardo Roig have teamed up to create an art exhibit which explores the hidden beauty of Jersey City. Their art exhibition “Jersey City: Hidden in Plain Sight” will be open to the public on March 2, at Gallerie Hudson. Both artists are known for creating and featuring scenes which reveal all that Hoboken and Jersey City have to offer.

Malolepszy explores the relationship between “old” Jersey City — brownstones and cast iron factories — and its rapidly changing landscape inclusive of murals, high rises, and storefronts, though her oil on canvas paintings. At “Jersey City: Hidden in Plain Sight” Malolepsky will be showing 14 oil paintings depicting various scenes from Jersey City.

Roig, a 33-year-old professional fine artist from Hoboken, maintains an art studio where he creates his work, and a separate art gallery where he exhibits his pieces. Many of his hand-cut prints are on display at his storefront gallery on First Street in Hoboken. Roig Gallery creates a comfortable and convenient location while adding color to the neighborhood giving Hoboken something new to see everyday.

The opening reception of Jersey City: Hidden in Plain Sight is this Friday, March 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Gallerie Hudson. Gallerie Hudson is located at 197 Newark Avenue, Jersey City, on the corner of Newark and Jersey Avenue.
