Exciting news for people in love with both food and socializing: the famous outdoor food festival and market, Smorgasburg, is coming to Jersey City this summer!

Smorgasburg will make its New Jersey debut at Jersey City’s Harborside, 195 Hudson Street, beginning May 29. This market is completely outdoors and is safe within the New Jersey COVID-19 restrictions. This expansion will be the company’s first location outside of New York City and Los Angeles.

The project has been unfolding behind the scenes for quite some time. Recently, Smorgasburg announced on Instagram the new site for the open-air market this summer. The addition of this Jersey City location is a win for the founders, Eric Demby and Jonathan Butler. In addition to New Jerseyans who previously had to cross the river to experience the food bonanza. Tens of thousands of people expect to flock towards the local businesses to grab a bite and socialize, all while spending time outdoors in the perfect summer weather.

The opening of Smorgasburg in Jersey City will kick off what we all hope to be a great summer. The parking lot in which the market will be held is 40,000 square feet with plenty of space to roam around as you eat. Included in the reopening is seating for up to 500 people at the Waterfront.

So far, there are about 25-30 vendors signed up for the market, such as Bisska and Carlitos Barbecue Taqueria.  As the lineup continues to expand, Smorgasburg encourages local vendors to apply for a spot. The operating hours will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Saturday through October. According to the founders, NYC locations will reopen soon as well.
