A Taste of the Sea : Dining at Molos Restaurant
Whether gazing through the sprawling floor to ceiling windows towards the New York City skyline or at the beautifully displayed dishes served, it’s clear why Molos Restaurant in Weehawken, NJ is a destination for both fine dining and impressive views. Known for its elegant ambiance and fresh seafood, Molos is a sight to see from the first step into the doors. Two floors of glass enclosed seating give guests the illusion that they are dining out at sea, while the giant showcase of fish and live lobster can be selected by guests for dinner. The array includes everything from white and flakey to the more intense flavors of the sea. We recently had the pleasure of dining at Molos Restaurant, and quickly discovered what the hype was all about.
Welcomed warmly by the staff, we sat down and took in our surroundings. The cool colors and easy going flow of the space gave way to the main attraction, the picturesque views across the Hudson. Starting our meal off, we were served a steaming bowl of lobster bisque soup, thick and creamy with large chunks of fresh lobster. Right alongside was the Traditional Greek Salad, full of crisp ingredients like hearty pieces of heirloom tomatoes, feta, cucumbers, peppers, red onions, kalamata olives and olive oil.
Out next came the Chilean Sea Bass Fricassee and the Tuna Steak, both plated to perfection. The Chilean Sea Bass was topped with a lemon emulsion, and served with swiss chard and fingerling potatoes as the sides. The Tuna Steak was crusted with sesame and walnuts, quinoa sitting on the side to finish off the plate. Both entrées were light and fresh, the fish was cooked perfectly and remaining flaky.
Finishing off our meal was the Molten Lava Cake, and we must say, it was some of the best we’ve ever had. The hot molten chocolate was cooled when mixed with the creamy vanilla ice cream that sat on the side, and both were wiped clean off the plate. A romantic dessert to say the least, this dish was made to share. When it was all said and done, our plates were cleared and the sun set behind the skyline.
Whether one is a seafood novice or fish lover, the restaurant offered something for everyone. One thing everyone could agree on, though, is that Molos is set in the perfect location, boasting one of the best views in town, and some of the best we’ve ever seen at a fine dining restaurant. No matter if you are celebrating a new job, a graduation, or an anniversary with a loved one, Molos is the place to take in the views and dine on delicious dishes.
