Mount Killington Boosts 155 trails, 22 lifts, and a 4,241 foot peak
When winter comes rolling in, the only thing I think to myself is, ” Take me somewhere warm!” Luckily so far, this winter has treated us rather kindly. Well in Vermont, that’s not that case because, ski season is here!
When you look outside, it’s hard to imagine what only 252 miles and 4 hours north really looks like. Well, thats about the distance to one of winter’s finest, Killington Resort, in Vermont. The mountain was recently dumped on by over 2 feet of fresh powder. And, whether you’re a skier, snowboarder, or just prefer to sit outside in the 102 degree hot tub while looking at the snow covered mountains, Killington Resort is the perfect way to do it!
After my very recent visit to Killington, I can say that it was an experience I will not forget. We stayed at the Killington Grand Hotel, which sits directly at the base of the mountain. The resort had an authentic, ski lodge feel, which was unlike any other place I’ve stayed in Vermont. Maybe it was the fact that the most common evening attire was “robe”, or that it has an outdoor heated swim out pool which leads directly to the 2 outdoor hot tubs. Oh, and did I mention the poolside bar service? Yep! There’s nothing quite like sipping on a cocktail in the jacuzzi after a day shredding up the mountain.
Now, lets talk about the ride!
Killington is one of the largest mountains on the east coast boasting 155 trails , 22 lifts, and a 4,241 foot peak. The trails on this mountain are gorgeous! What’s really great, is that Killington has a ton of help on the mountain for whatever you may need. There’s always someone around to explain the trail maps, difficulty levels, or just help point you in the right direction. After all, when you’re riding a mountain with over 73 miles of terrain, its not difficult to get lost! The mountain also has a ton of great places to eat like their newest addition, Peak Lodge, which sits at the very peak of the mountain.
Traveling to Killington Resort this past weekend was certainly an unexpected surprise. We never would’ve expected to have such a great trip, especially this early in the season. If you’re thinking about your next weekend trip, consider this. With snow conditions as good as they could be all year and the least amount of crowds we’ll see all season, this is the perfect time to make the trip. I’m about to start planning my return visit soon!
