A Montclair restaurant is stepping up after more than 100 educators became victims of a budget shortfall at Montclair Public Schools.

In December, Montclair moved forward with staff and budget cuts as a first step in addressing a $20 million gap in the budget.

Now, Ani Ramen, a popular fast-casual restaurant by Montclair Hospitality Group, is coming forward to help ease some of the impact. Through their Teacher’s Table program, educators can reserve tables at the ramen joint for tutoring sessions. In return, Ani will provide a free entrée for both the student and teacher.

The program is designed to support teachers who may be facing termination or pay reductions due to the budget shortfall. It also aims to serve as a community hub, giving parents an opportunity to keep key educators involved in their children’s lives. A true student-teacher relationship cannot be faked, and the company views that forged connection as essential to both student development and community success.

Ani Ramen will serve as a unique tutoring space. Where else can you work on algebra while slurping a bowl of shoyu ramen?

Teacher’s Table is available weekdays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tutoring reservations can be made by calling the restaurant directly at 973-337-5299.

Ani Ramen is located at 511 Bloomfield Ave, Montclair, NJ.
