Another popular NYC restaurant is opening in New Jersey. This time, it’s the City’s most popular smash burger.
The 7th Street Story
7th Street Burger first opened in 2021 on—you guessed it—7th Street in the East Village. The Americana burger shop quickly became one of the most talked-about burgers in New York. They’ve since opened 15-plus locations across New York City, a couple in Washington D.C., and debuted in New Jersey with Hoboken earlier this spring. Now, they’re expanding further into the Garden State.
7th Street Burger—an official partner of the New York Knicks—opened in Hackensack on Monday. They serve the same lacy smash burgers that catapulted the brand to fame five years ago. The burger is simple: smashed patty, American cheese, grilled onions, pickles, special sauce, and a lightly pressed Martin’s potato bun.
Beyond the famous cheeseburgers and spicy jalapeño doubles, the menu includes Impossible burgers, French fries, and loaded fries—but that’s it. 7th Street keeps things small, focusing on quality over quantity in a way that breeds consistency and a cult-like following. You know exactly what you’re getting when you walk into a 7th Street location, and it hits the same every time.
The Hackensack shop sports the same red-and-white checkered digs that have become synonymous with the brand.
More NJ Locations On the Way
Later this year, 7th Street will open more New Jersey locations, including in Union, Brick, and Princeton.
At this pace, it won’t be long before you can find a 7th Street Burger no matter where you are in the Garden State.
