For decades, The Crow’s Nest in Hackensack, NJ has served a crew of regulars and newcomers alike with prime rib, roast beef sandwiches and more. However, on October 24, the no-frills restaurant will close its doors for good.
Andreas and Angela Hajiyerou bought The Crow’s Nest off of the previous owners in 1991 after nearly 20 years operating a local fishery that supplied seafood to local restaurants. The couple’s kids, Peter and Evan Hajiyerou, run the day-to-day operations of the restaurant today.

Diners flocked to The Crow’s Nest for its expansive menu, which featured the likes of burgers, salads, soups, a raw bar, steaks, fish and what many consider to be the best Roast Beef sandwich in New Jersey. The wrap-around bar was equally as popular—running frequent specials and often featuring live music and entertainment.
Over the years, The Crow’s Nest remained an affordable spot to grab an excellent meal.
The family stated that they sold the joint so that Andreas and Angela can finally retire after a lengthy career in hospitality. Peter also stated that they received an offer on the property that was simply too good to pass up.
In any event, a Route 17 staple will be no more come October 24. There’s still time to get your last taste of what will soon be an extinct menu.

So very sad about the Crow’s Nest. I’ve been going there since the 70’s.
