Summer in New Jersey means outdoor concerts and community gatherings. Towns across the state host their annual concert series, featuring a mix of jazz, rock, country, and pop. These free events promise fun for everyone, offering great music and a good time with your loved ones. Here’s a look at some of the summer concert series happening in NJ.

65 Mt. Hope Rd., Rockaway Township, NJ

Enjoy music every Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Performances include Tequila Rose (New Country & Mix) on July 28, Rosewood Band (Classic Pop Rock) on August 4, Rave On (Early Rock & Rock Favorites) on August 11, Jersey Sound (Old Favorites to Dance To) on August 18, and 3 Day Weekend (Classic and Party Rock) on August 25. In case of rain, the location will move to Rockaway Townsquare Mall (Macy’s) Lower Level. The park features geese, a playground with swings perfect for kids, and scenic walking paths.

Wayne Township Summer Concert Series

Wayne Municipal Complex, 475 Valley Road, Wayne, NJ

Visit Wayne on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. for a variety of musical performances. Jersey Sound will perform on July 31, offering the best of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. On August 7, Steppin’ Out, the Central Coast’s finest dance band, will take the stage. DiscoTeks will provide a tribute to the 70s on August 14, and the North Jersey Concert Band will perform on August 28. Limited seating is available, so bring a blanket or lawn chair! 

Borough of Fair Lawn Summer Concert Series

Robert “Scooter” Young Special Event Stage, Memorial Park, Fair Lawn, NJ

This Summer Concert Series will take place on Sunday evenings at 8:00 p.m. Performances include the North Jersey Concert Band (Classical to Pop) on July 28, the Rosewood Band on August 1, Kover Up Band (Classic Rock) on August 4, Reminisce (Oldies, Motown) on August 11, Ladies of the 80s Tribute Band on August 18, and The Cameos (Doo-Wop and Oldies) on August 25. Bring a lawn chair for seating in the parking lot of Memorial Park.

Township of Little Falls Summer Concert Series

Wilmore Road (Memorial) Park, Corner of Wilmore Road and First Ave., Little Falls, NJ 

This summer concert starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m. If you arrive early, you can join the marketplace, which starts at 6 p.m. In case of rain, the show will move to the Civic Center at 19 Warren Street. Performances include The Strangers on August 1, Nash East on August 8, Jersey Sound on August 15, The Counterfeiters on August 22, and Total Soul on August 29. Enjoy a variety of music from versatile bands to professional country musicians and classic hits.

Union County Summer Arts Festival

Oak Ridge Park in Clark, or Echo Lake Park in Mountainside, NJ

The Summer Arts Concert Series takes place at various Union County parks. Musical acts include 5 Against 1, a Pearl Jam tribute band performing at Echo Lake Park on August 7, and Taylor Nation, a Taylor Swift sing-along tribute band at Oak Ridge Park on August 17. These events are sure to provide memorable experiences and entertainment for the entire family.

Camden County Summer Concert Series

Various Locations NJ

The Sunset Jazz Series at Camden Waterfront’s Roland Traynor River Stage occurs on Mondays at 8 p.m. The Sundown Music Series at Haddon Lake Park’s McLaughlin Norcross Memorial Dell is on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m., and the Twilight Concert Series at Cooper River Park’s Jack Curtis Stadium is on Thursdays at 8 p.m. Enjoy soulful jazz, Latin jazz pop, Southern-style blues rock, Americana, and soul performances.

Somerset County

Duke Island Park, Old York Road, Bridgewater, NJ

Head to the Summer Concert Series at Duke Island Park, where music lovers come together to celebrate various genres and eras. Concerts are on Sunday evenings at 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Step By Step will perform on July 28, and The Ronald Reagans will bring the 80s vs. 90s show on August 4. Enjoy free admission and parking, with food trucks available onsite. Bring your cooler, lawn chair, or blanket to relax in the music-filled atmosphere.

Woodbridge Township

The 2024 Mayor Summer Concert Series features free live music all summer long, starting at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy Golden Oldies on Mondays, Tribute Tuesdays, Woodbridge Wednesdays, Local Band Thursdays, Fun Fridays, and Country Sundays. Check here for the lineup and locations.

The City of Hackensack Summer Concert Series

On The Green, Main St. & Washington Pl., Hackensack, NJ

Grab your blanket and chair and enjoy free live music on the Green! Concerts are on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m., rain or shine. If it rains, shows will move indoors to the HACPAC at 102 State St. Performances include Stifler’s Mom on July 30, with original spins on 90s music, and Eaglemania, the world’s greatest Eagles tribute band, on August 6.

Gloucester City Summer Concert Series

Proprietors Park, 235 South King Street, Gloucester City, NJ

Enjoy the music and scenery at Proprietors Park this summer! All shows run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Ben Arnold will perform on August 13, with local talent Kevin Beckett as the opening act. On August 27, Rogers & Butler will return from Abbey Road Studios, with Dave Bakey as the opening act.

Borough of Roseland Summer Concert Series

Harrison Complex, Roseland, NJ

The 2024 Roseland Summer Concert Series features performances on Wednesday, August 14, with We May Be Right playing Billy Joel’s music at 7:30 p.m., and on Friday, September 6, with Super Trans Am performing a “Super 70’s Concert Experience” at 7:00 p.m. Food, snacks, beverages, and desserts will be available for purchase!

Borough of Wharton Summer Concert Series

Betty Poyer Field, 180 W. Central Ave, Wharton, NJ

The 2024 Summer Concert Series features The Peach Project on May 24, Winslow on July 26, NJ’s Most Popular New Wave Band on August 16, and Southern Steel on September 14. Concerts are from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Betty Poyer Field. Enjoy food trucks, Jersey Girl Brewery, and free admission and parking. 

Township of Verona Summer Concert Series

Verona Town Hall, 600 Bloomfield Ave., Verona, NJ

The 20th Annual Summer Concert Series takes place at 7 p.m. on the Town Hall Lawn. Performances include The John McDermott Band on August 7 and Neil Diamond & Friends on August 28. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the summer vibes.

City of Linden Summer Concert Series

Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade, 400 North Wood Avenue, Linden, NJ

Enjoy the Summer Entertainment Series with live music, comedy, and more. Performances include Legends of Linden on July 27, Jo Bonanno and the Spirit of Asbury Park Rock on July 30, Comedy Under the Stars with Bob Sumner on August 2, Sensational Soul Cruisers on August 6, El Grupo K’Nela on August 13, and The Verdict on August 20. Concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., and House Music events start at 4:30 p.m. and end at 9 p.m.

Township of Aberdeen Summer Concert Series

Concerts are held every Tuesday night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Enjoy performances by Soul Seduction on July 30, Madison Avenue on August 13, Southern Steel on August 20, and Screaming Broccoli on August 27. Bring your lawn chairs, relax, and soak in the summer vibes with great music.

Berkeley Township Summer Concert Series

Veterans Park, Bayville, 489 Forrest Hill Parkway, Bayville, NJ

The Sounds of Summer series takes place at Veterans Park, with shows starting at 6 p.m. and ending at 9 p.m. Each show features an opening act and a main act. Performances include Dominique and Julian opening for Event Horizon on August 7, Alotta Colada at White Sands Beach on August 24, and Slap Happy opening for The Boy Band Project on September 14.

Monroe Township Summer Concert Series

Thompson Park, Monroe Township, NJ

The Cultural Arts Commission presents a lineup of bands featuring rock, country, pop, jazz, Latin American, Bollywood, and more. Concerts are on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Performances include Danny V’s 52nd Street Band on August 1, Hidden Gems on August 8, and Gumbo Gumbas on August 15. In case of rain, performances will move indoors to the nearby Senior Center.

On August 8, StevieMac offers a Fleetwood Mac & Stevie Nicks experience. August 15 features the Yacht Rock Gold Experience. On August 22, enjoy Yellow Brick Road, a tribute to Elton John, followed by Southern Steel’s Classic Skynyrd Live on August 29. Wrapping up the series, The Amish Outlaws perform on September 5.
