Sloomoo Institute: An Experiential Slime Pop-Up in NYC

From the Rosé Mansion to Museum of Ice Cream, there’s no shortage of Instagrammable pop-ups to hit the streets of NYC. Starting October 25th, SoHo will be home to Sloomoo Institute — an interactive, experiential space that celebrates all things slime.

Sloomoo Institute will feature slime experiments, video booths, sculptures, among many other wondrous installations including an ASMR tunnel with CGI projections, an EEG machine to show your brain “on slime” and a glow-in-the-dark cove. The space itself will have a modern, contemporary vibe thanks to visionaries such as Method Design Architecture + Urbanism (a partner of Sloomoo Institute), Flavor Paper and artists Jillian Mayer, Paul Outlaw and Jen Catron to name a few.

Sloomoo is also working with Elmer’s who will be providing the glue (without it, slime would not be possible); DSTLD who has made jumpsuits that can be purchased on location; Demeter Fragrance Library who is responsible for scenting all of Sloomoo’s slimes; and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, who is working on the world’s first recycling program for slime.

Not only is slime a social media sensation, it’s also known for its ability to provide stress relief and encourage imagination. For that reason, Sloomoo Institute will be donating a portion of their proceeds to three mental health charities: Love is Louder, NAMI and Sad Girls Club.

The slime experience, while most tempting to kids, doesn’t count out adults. Sloomoo Institute will include “adult programming” in the evenings, which is said to include “Sip and Slime” and CBD events.

“I fell in love with the magic of slime when I was going through a difficult time in my life,” said Karen Robinovitz, one of Sloomoo Institute’s co-founders. “It helped move me from a place of anxiety and stress into one of joy. So we are all excited to bring the wonder and happiness of slime to the world in a large way. Our hope is that people of all ages will come to Sloomoo Institute and delight and evoke their inner child.”

Tickets are on sale now and can be found through their website. Sloomoo Institute will be open everyday from 10am – 9pm and will run for six months from October 25 to April 18.
