WORD Bookstore’s Grand Opening And Upcoming Events

With four and five star reviews from Facebook users, WORD Bookstore seems to be a welcomed addition to downtown Jersey City.

 

And this Friday, Feb. 28, WORD will have its official grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. with Mayor Steven Fulop as the honorary ribbon cutter. Any and all bookworms are welcome and will be greeted with a free cup of coffee.

 

After the grand opening, WORD is sure to feel like your second home with the number of events you’ll be attending throughout the month of March, which happens to be National Crafting Month. If you’re a crafter or DIY guru, you’ll be pleased to know that WORD is celebrating with a variety of workshops. We’ve highlighted a few upcoming events below, but be sure to check WORD’s website for the full list.

 

Stumptown Cupping & Tasting, March 2 at 11 a.m.

If you’re a coffee connoisseur, stop by WORD as Stumptown presents a cupping and tasting, showcasing different brew methods and blends. You’ll get a mini lesson on coffee while getting your coffee fix satisfied with free samples.

 

Survival Tips with Brad Parks, March 5 at 7:30 p.m.

Brad Parks is the author of the Carter Ross mystery book series about a Newark investigative reporter. Parks will do a reading and signing for his latest book The Player and even give you a survival kit to take home.

 

Tape-Craft with Richela Fabian Morgan, March 9 at 9:30 p.m.

Tape It & Make: 101 Duct Tape Activities author Richela Fabian Morgan will show you that you can truly do anything with a piece of duct tape. This event is the epitome of National Craft Month

 

Local Author Night, March 13 at 7:30 p.m.

There’s no better way to show pride in community than to support local talent. Three Jersey City writers will read segments from their most recent work and be available for questions and signings. The three writers include novelist Jaime Godfrey, author Janey Rose and poet Jackie Clark.

Drawing with George O’Connor, March 23 at 2:30 p.m.
Bring your kids and their friends by WORD for a combined drawing and mythology lesson. George O’Connor is an artist, author and mythology expert who will share his favorite Greek myths and stories while dishing out pointers for quality drawing. The event is recommended for children ages seven or older, but anyone is welcome.
