The renowned team behind Millburn’s Common Lot—a top 25 restaurant in New Jersey—has announced via Instagram that they are opening a second restaurant in Hoboken, NJ.

Located at 800 Jackson Street, BYRD restaurant will bring Chef Ehren Ryan’s signature style of cooking to Hudson County. The prime location includes an inviting outdoor area, a 100-seat dining room and, something Ryan has dreamt of for a long time, a liquor license.

“We’ve been on the lookout for the perfect spot to launch our second restaurant, and we’ve finally found it,” said Chef Ryan, who co-owns Common Lot with his wife Nadine. “The 9th street light rail station, Palisades elevator, and a nearby multi-story car park offer convenient accessibility, making BYRD an ideal destination for both locals and visitors.” Ryan went on to explain that the plan is for BYRD to be a local, family restaurant for the community, as well as a destination spot for experienced diners.

BYRD’s cuisine will embody a relaxed and global dining experience that resonates with the vibrant residential community surrounding it. For fans of Common Lot, a second restaurant was a longtime coming.

For Hoboken, whose dining scene has taken a dive in recent years, BYRD will bring a fresh burst of creativity and dining excellence to the Hudson County city—which has been surpassed culinarily by Jersey City in the last half decade.

“Expect our signature seasonal dishes, globally influenced creations, and beloved family favorites on the menu,” added Chef Ryan. “Moreover, we’re curating a meticulously selected wine list showcasing offerings from both [the] new and old world, alongside a fully stocked bar.”

The same genius design team behind Common Lot’s exceptional interior, Studio 1200, will spearhead the aesthetics concept at BYRD.

“While we embark on this new endeavor, our commitment to Common Lot remains unwavering,” assured Ehren. “Common Lot will continue as our flagship fine dining destination, with our dedicated team maintaining the high standards our patrons [have come to] expect.”

Chef Ryan told me that the team is committed to opening in the first quarter of 2024.

Stay tuned for further updates as BYRD prepares to spread its wings in Hoboken.
