5 Things To Do This Weekend

by Lauren Scrudato

Now that all your free time isn’t being used up standing in check-out lines and finding parking at the mall, here’s 5 things to do this weekend:

New Year's Weekend Pub Crawl, 230 Washington St., Hoboken

If you just can’t wait till Tuesday to celebrate 2014, Hoboken Bar and Grill is hosting a New Year’s Weekend Pub Crawl on Saturday, beginning at 4 p.m. and going until the wee hours of the morning. Purchase tickets here.

Tradi-Moderne Art Exhibit, 720 Monroe St., Hoboken

Today and tomorrow are your last two days to see the artwork by local artists Geraldine Gaines, Ibou Ndoye, and Liz Cohen, displayed in the Tradi-Moderne exhibit at hob’art cooperative gallery inside the Monroe Center. All three artists drew inspiration from traditional arts of the indigenous peoples around the world and incorporated their own modern views into their pieces. Swing by Suite E208 too see what they’ve been up to all month. Click here for more info.

Comedy Clips, 18 Erie St., Jersey City
Balance Hair Salon will be hosting a free comedy showcase on Sunday at 5 p.m. The list of performers includes Dan St Germain, who has been featured on Comedy Central, the Conan O’Brien show and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, along with Nick Leidl, Joe Newman, Darin Patterson, and more. Have some laughs and plan to get your hair done for New Year’s!

Pilsener Haus Holiday Jam, 1422 Grand St., Hoboken
Continue the holiday celebrations this Sunday by listening to live music from Jennifer Lampert, Julio Fernandez and Dave Post for Pilsener’s Jingle, Jangle & Jam session from 6 to 10 p.m. If you’re brave enough, you can even jam or sing with the artists! Pilsener Haus is also open for brunch on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 pm.

New Year’s Yoga Detox, 127 Washington St., Hoboken

We’re extending our list of things to do through New Year’s, because the holiday season feels like one long weekend anyway. Unwind and refocus yourself for 2014 by attending New Jersey Running Company’s New Year’s Yoga Detox at 11 a.m. on New Year’s Day. The class is in the loft of the brand new store in Hoboken and is free to join. Just bring your yoga mat and arrive 15 minutes before class.
