When I first spoke with Alexandra I had to ask her cutlet recipe as I was wondering what type of breadcrumbs she used. However, the conversation shifted to how she was dealing with all the fame that was coming her family’s way. What I saw in her eyes and energy was a proud mom who is truly there to support her son. She was gracious as she took a few photos with my sons and me. Also my son asked about her cutlets as well, but hedged because he said his Nonna’s cutlets were most likely better. But it wasn’t about the cutlets or even the media attention, it was about pride for their son. I also take pride in his success as an Italian-American as it’s not everyday the culture is front and center.
Upon meeting Tom Devito Sr., I noticed he had a nice sweatsuit on (as did I) along with his trademark sunglasses. He brings such energy and excitement to everyone around him as he’s truly enjoying his son’s fame, but also appears to be humble at the same time. I understand he’s a 3rd generation Plumber in Montclair under the name Devito Plumbing and Heating. According to the reviews it appears that he runs a good business (it’s hard to find a good plumber these days!). He gave my sons a chocolate helmet and took as many pictures as we asked. I’ve been around many reality celebrities to know that sudden fame goes to people’s heads, but this is definitely not the case with La Famiglia Devito.
