Jupiter Enters Aries and Prepares for Retrograde

Jupiter is already in its pre-retrograde shadow, but that didn’t stop this expansive planet from barging into excitable Aries on May 10. Jupiter has been in its pre-retrograde shadow since May 1, when the planet of good luck and abundance reached the murky depths of 28 degrees of Pisces. A week-and-a-half later, Jupiter is switching up the vibe by leaving this dreamy water sign and moving on to a bold fire sign.

This is not the first transit Jupiter is making in 2022. Due to its upcoming retrograde, the planet will return to its traditional home sign of Pisces for about two months in late fall. Consequently, Jupiter transits back into Aries just before the winter solstice and the end of the year.

Jupiter is on quite a journey this year! The planet itself is associated with exploration and travel, so it’s safe to say that Jupiter wouldn’t have it any other way. Its current transit has seemingly arrived at the perfect time, amongst the chaos of an outer world recovering from a global pandemic. America’s Pluto return has shaken our political structure, financial system and global economy. Plus, Saturn and Uranus have created unrest between restriction and freedom. Amid this turmoil, Jupiter in Aries says “focus on yourself.”

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Jupiter is hanging around until the end of Pisces/beginning of Aries this year. This area is all about “out with the old, in with the new.”

Two words: personal power. Jupiter in Aries is about embracing our independent spirit. We all have unique gifts, qualities and talents that make us special. This transit is a gentle reminder to never underestimate the influence or impact that an individual can have. When we accept self-love and project who we truly are into the world, the Universe matches this energy. This is how manifestation works—and how Jupiter bestows its blessings.

The last time Jupiter was in a fire sign was in 2019. The planet left its home sign of Sagittarius in November of that year and entered its fall position of Capricorn only to meet up with both Pluto and Saturn. Since then, the world we knew fell apart, making space for greater conscious awareness and connection to our higher minds and selves. We were all woken up to some sort of purpose, and the whole experience made us appreciate life itself on a deeper level. Jupiter in Aries is our “rebirth by fire” from all of this. It is a chance to step up and own this new identity or direction that we’ve chosen to run with.

This particular influence will be strong for the next couple of months and fizzle out once Jupiter gets closer to its retrograde on July 28. The best thing to do right now is to take action. Of course, it can be helpful to know which house the first eight degrees of Aries falls in your chart, as this area has extra gusto right now. The prime time to attract and seize opportunities is in May, June and most of July. This time is best utilized by placing our attention on where we’d like to grow and taking the necessary steps to do so. Aries is not a lazy sign, and this is a time to be ruthless and put yourself out there.

Jupiter will be retrograde in Aries from mid-summer to October 28, 2022, when the expansive planet moves back into Pisces. This will be an ideal time to cultivate some of our strong personal talents or qualities. Anything that has to do with self-improvement will be highly beneficial while Jupiter is retrograde in Aries. There may be some strong self-realization during this period, so don’t be surprised if you have one.

When the Great Benefic is back in Pisces in late October, we’ll have time for some inner reflection on who we are and how we fit into the world at large within this Aries-Pisces dynamic. It will beg the question, “what do we need to feel fulfilled?”

Is it love, a career, wealth or fame? Once we understand our underlying desires, we can make them a reality. We’ll feel inspired to do so once Jupiter goes direct on November 23 in its home sign of Pisces. This is a time to sit back, reserve our energy and tune into those universal vibrations. Focus on what you intuitively feel from October 28 to December 20. It is the last time that both the rulers of Pisces, Jupiter and Neptune, will cohabit their sign together in this lifetime. These two made a rare conjunction earlier this year. This is truly a movement to take it all in. Doing so will guide us in making our next decision.

Jupiter transits back into Aries on December 20, the day before Winter Solstice (December 21), supercharging this day with a cardinal spark. This time is ideal for starting new ventures or launching anything. This could also be a fresh start in your personal life or business affairs. With the sun at zero degrees Capricorn, while Jupiter is at zero degrees Aries, the slate may get wiped clean. These two will be in a square aspect, which is initially challenging but promotes growth.

Jupiter will be in Aries during the first half of 2023, so what we start this year will continue into the next. Embrace who you truly are and show up as yourself. If Jupiter in Aries teaches us one thing, it’s that it all starts with the self.
